Lookouts

One of the best places marvel at the beauty of nature is from a lookout. If you're up for a challenging hike, then you can take in incredible landscape views from the top of mountain peaks. For those who prefer a relaxing drive, lookouts make fantastic pit stops for your road trip along Victoria's beaches and coasts.

London Bridge

A short drive along the Great Ocean Road from the Twelve Apostles just beyond Port Campbell, discover these three unique and spectacular rock formations. See Little Penguins come ashore at dusk from London Bridge Lookout, coastal vistas framed by the charming Grotto and the Arch precariously balanced on a rock platform smashed by waves.

Mount Donna Buang

At an elevation of 1.2km, the summit features a lookout tower which offers panoramic views over Melbourne, the Yarra Valley, Dandenong and Cathedral Ranges, Mount Baw Baw and the Alps. It's a great picnic spot and starting point for walks on the mountain.

Powers Lookout

Powers Lookout provides a beautiful view of the King Valley. Just a short drive from Whitfield, It's very popular for day-trippers and those people who love a bit of Australian History as it is named after bushranger Harry Powers.

Flinders Peak Lookout

Starting from the Turntable car park, this walk takes you to the highest point of the You Yangs. This is a challenging walk featuring 450 steps and rising 200m in elevation.

Sunrises and sunsets

Nothing elevates an incredible view more than a sky streaked with oranges, pinks and yellows. For the early birds, start your day in nature with a sunrise. Or sleep in and finish a day of hiking, picnicking or exploring by watching the sun go down. Can’t decide? Camping is a great way to witness both!

Boroka Lookout

Boroka Lookout provides spectacular views of the Wonderland Range, Mt William Range, Fyans Valley, Lake Bellfield and the plains to the east of the Grampians. The lookout is located 15km from Halls Gap and is easily accessed via sealed roads.

Macedon Regional Park

A beautifully scenic forested mountain-ridge the Macedon Ranges host forested walking tracks, shady picnic areas and stunning lookouts. The Mount Macedon War Memorial Cross dominates the surrounding landscape while scenic drives link the park to the cafes and restaurants of the surrounding towns and villages.

Twelve Apostles

The world-famous Twelve Apostles are the undisputed highlight of the equally famous Great Ocean Road. View these limestone sea stacks at sunset for a quieter and even more spectacular experience. And be sure to walk the short trail to Gibson Steps for a view from the beach.

Stargazing

Looking to escape the city and get into nature? The summer sky has some of the brightest stars and constellations, so it’s the perfect time to try stargazing. You don’t need to travel far to take in the breathtaking views, just pick somewhere away from bright lights! Or travel to remote parks of Victoria and you’ll find the night sky shining bright, glittering with stars.
