Lady Talbot Drive closed until further notice

Due to increased risk of tree fall from recent and forecast high rainfall, Lady Talbot Drive is closed including access to Phantom Falls, Keppel Falls, Taggerty River Cascades and The Beeches Walk.

Notice of Deer Control - Lake Mountain

To protect vulnerable ecosystems, Parks Victoria will commence a deer control program at Lake Mountain, Yarra Ranges National Park periodically from March until May 2021. This work aims to reduce deer impact on significant alpine bogs, which in turn support many threatened and vulnerable species. 

The next planned deer control activities will occur 1 March – 4 March between 7pm – 7amDuring these times, the operations area will be closed to the public overnight and re-open during the day. At Lake Mountain, this means overnight camping is not available during nights of control.

O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail: Trestle Bridge Closed

No access to the trestle bridge on O'Shannassy Aqueduct Trail.  Aqueduct trail terminates at this point (1.1km east of Dee Rd, Millgrove).  Plan your visit accordingly.

Fuel Reduction Burn Works. Healesville - Road 21

Fuel reduction burn works will increase the presence of plant and equipment in the Hendersons Loop carpark area, along with intermittent delays for walkers accessing; 
  • Road 15, between Rd 17 (Condons Tk) and the Maroondah Reservoir Lookout
  • Rd 17 (Condons Tk) between Road 22 and Road 15
These works are critical to reduce bush fire risk to the local area.

FIRE PREPAREDNESS WORKS - Peninsula Road

Impact: Park users may experience delays while works are carried out, so if you can, avoid Peninsula Road. Please follow the instructions of work crews if you need to go through the site.
Selected trees will be cut down and shrubby mid-story mulched to approximately 5m either side of the road.
Environmental and cultural heritage assessments have been undertaken to ensure important areas are protected.

Why: This work is maintaining the existing Peninsula Road fuelbreak, which is critical for firefighter and emergency vehicle access and safety in the event of a fire or other emergency.

FIRE PREPAREDNESS WORKS - Warramate Hills N.C.R

Date: 23rd February - 5th March 2021
Location: Warramate Hills N.C.R Fire Access Roads and Fuel Breaks 

Impact: Park users may experience delays while works are carried out. Please follow the instructions of work crews if you need to go through the site.
Selected drainage and culverts will be cleaned, along with shrubby under story rearranged 5m either side of fire access roads and fuel breaks.

Why: This work is maintaining the existing fire access roads and fuel breaks, which are critical for firefighter and emergency vehicle access and safety in the event of a fire or other emergency.
