Great Ocean Walk - Day 4 -9 - Closed > Tree Risk and Flooding
- Due to current extreme tree risk, forecast severe weather and estuary flooding, the Great Ocean Walk is CLOSED from Cape Otway through to the Twelve Apostles.
- Closures apply to the walk and all Great Ocean Walk campsites in these areas
- The Aire River estuary mouth is closed and flooding is occurring. Flooding has cut the Great Ocean Walk at it is impassable at the Aire River. Flooding has occurred at the Gellibrand River.
- Hundreds of large trees are reported down are tree risk is extreme.
- Trees damaged from previous winds will be further impacted by more severe winds and weather.
- Tree heads and limbs will fall posing major risk to hikers in these areas.
- Parks Victoria crews are working, when safe to do so, at clearing the hazards as soon as practicable.
- Tree and limb strikes can be fatal.
- It is unsafe to be in this area. National Park Safety Regulations apply.

Severe Weather Impact
- Severe weather has impacted South West Victoria.
- Coastal, cliff and beach erosion has occurred.
- Heavily treed areas of parks areas have had wind damage and tree risk is now extreme.
- Trees can drop limbs without notice following these events.
- Visitors to these areas should be aware of the risks and maintain safety.
- Sites may be closed at short notice once determined safety is compromised.
- Ask yourself "is it safe to be here?"
- Report trees down on access tracks and paths when safe to do so to Parks Victoria on 131963.
