The project
This project is being delivered on Bunurong Country.
Albert Park is a much-loved park located just outside of Melbourne’s city centre. Around 42 local sporting clubs call the park home, with a diverse range of teams making use of the park’s pavilions, club houses and 20 sporting fields.
We are delivering an energy transformation to the park by installing solar panels across facilities used by local sporting clubs. The project will drive down carbon emissions and help community clubs to save on their utility bills.
Environmental assessments will inform exactly where, when and how components of the project are delivered.

Using renewable energy to generate power for community facilities will help to reduce local carbon emissions, and is an important step towards making the park more sustainable.

The Victorian Government has invested $1.6 million to deliver sustainable energy at Albert Park.

Who are we working with?
We're working with local sporting clubs to ensure the upgrades meet their needs and that minimal impact is experienced throughout the project.
Access changes
Before visiting any park, you should check the relevant park page for any Change of Conditions.
There are currently no access changes to the park, however there may be some areas with restricted access once construction commences.
We will undertake risk and safety assessments to ensure the project will be completed safely, and any areas where construction is taking place will be clearly signed and fenced off to restrict public access to the worksite.

Why are these works taking place?
As managers of Victoria’s world class parks and reserves, Parks Victoria is committed to action on environmental sustainability. The installation of solar panels across Albert Park’s pavilions and club houses will help to lower local carbon emissions, and is an important step towards making parks across the state more sustainable.
The renewable energy project will also cut utility bills and help put money back into the pockets of local sporting clubs. This supports community organisations to grow and thrive by channelling their resources into the things that really matter.
