Key information

• The newly upgraded path links the Hume Freeway overpass and the northern pedestrian bridge with a three-metre-wide concrete shared path, providing a smooth connection for all trail users.

• Stage two works will install a service-vehicle accessible bridge over the Merri Creek which will negate the need to use the current informal ford crossing. This will protect the creek environment flora and fauna

• Stage three works will upgrade the current informal access path along the east bank of the creek. The upgrades will provide a smooth and easy connection of the northern and southern sections of the park.

Other information

• The parklands protect native grassland of state and national significance in this rapidly urbanising growth corridor of Melbourne, as well as providing opportunities to exercise, relax, socialise and enjoy nature.

• The Merri Creek Parklands Masterplan is program of 22 projects identified to improve and protect the grasslands in partnership with Hume City Council, City of Whittlesea and Melbourne Water.
